Shoreline Property Tax Records
Shoreline property tax records are managed by King County, not the City of Shoreline. The King County Assessor values all parcels in Shoreline, and King County Treasury bills and collects the taxes. To look up a Shoreline property tax record, search the King County eReal Property portal by parcel number. The City of Shoreline does receive a portion of property tax revenue, approximately 10.8 percent, to fund services like police, public works, and parks. But the full administrative process runs through King County.
Shoreline Overview
How Shoreline Property Taxes Work
Shoreline is an incorporated city in King County. Like all King County cities, it relies on the county for property tax administration. The King County Assessor determines the assessed value of every parcel in Shoreline. That value, combined with levy rates set by each taxing district, determines what an owner owes. The Shoreline city government sets its own levy rate each year, but the county handles all the valuation and collection work.
The City of Shoreline explains its tax structure on its tax and licensing page. Residents are directed to King County for property value and tax statements. Shoreline also participates in a Multifamily Property Tax Exemption program for qualifying new residential developments, accessible from the city's maps and GIS page.
Shoreline's Real Estate Excise Tax rate is 0.50 percent. This is separate from annual property taxes and applies when property changes hands. Questions about REET go to the King County Recorder's Office. For assessed value questions on existing Shoreline parcels, contact the King County Assessor at 206-296-7300.

Search Shoreline Property Records Online
The main tool for Shoreline property tax records is the King County eReal Property portal. Search by property tax account number, which is the same as the parcel number. Results show assessed value, tax history, building details, year built, square footage, and photographs taken by the Assessor during site inspections. No login or fee is required.
Before accessing detailed data, users must agree to the restriction under RCW 42.56.070(9) that prohibits using lists of individuals for commercial purposes. This is a standard requirement across all Washington county portals. The Assessor notes that data accuracy is not warranted, and critical information should be confirmed directly with the office.
The City of Shoreline also maintains its own Online Property Search, accessible from the city's Interactive Web Maps page. This city-level tool includes permit information, environmentally sensitive area layers, zoning overlays, and tax parcel data. It also shows aerial photography archives going back to earlier city boundary periods when the area was unincorporated King County. The Shoreline Property Information Interactive Map is a useful supplement to the King County tools for city-specific planning data.
For a map-based approach, use the King County Parcel Viewer. You can search by address or parcel number, click a parcel on the map, and link to the eReal Property report. The viewer also shows King County zoning overlays and parcel boundary layers for Shoreline properties.
Note: The King County Assessor regularly photographs properties and most are available as part of the eReal Property public record.Shoreline GIS and Parcel Data
Shoreline maintains its own GIS data catalog, available at shorelinewa.gov/our-city/maps-gis. The Land Records dataset includes addresses, city boundary files, and parcel data for the city. Additional datasets cover parks, zoning, streets, surface water, traffic, and wastewater. Data is available in file geodatabase format. Existing maps can be downloaded as free PDFs. For GIS support, contact GIS_Support@shorelinewa.gov.
The Shoreline Interactive Web Maps page provides widget tools including legend, layer list, transparency controls, drawing, measuring, printing, and attribute table viewing. The Historic Property Inventory Interactive Map shows historic properties identified on inventories compiled during the late 1970s when the area was still unincorporated King County. This can be helpful for tracing older property ownership and historical assessment records.
For bulk parcel data across King County, the King County GIS Open Data portal at gis-kingcounty.opendata.arcgis.com provides downloadable files for real property tax receivables, personal property data, and foreclosure parcel data in CSV, JSON, and XML formats.
The King County Assessor also has a Tax Transparency Tool that gives each property owner an individualized breakdown of where their tax dollars go and the estimated cost of proposed levies. This is available through the King County Assessor's website and is particularly useful during levy election seasons when Shoreline residents consider new ballot measures.
Paying Shoreline Property Taxes
Shoreline property taxes are billed and collected by King County Treasury. Payments are due in two installments each year. The first half is due April 30 and the second half is due October 31. If your total tax bill is $50 or less, full payment is due by April 30. Missing a due date results in interest and penalties starting May 1.
King County accepts payments online through a secure eCommerce portal that takes credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks. A service fee applies for card transactions. Mail payments go to King County Treasury, 201 S. Jackson St., Suite 710, Seattle, WA 98104. Always include the property tax account number. In-person payments are accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the King County Customer Service Center at 201 S. Jackson Street, second floor. A drop box at the corner of Second Avenue and South Jackson Street accepts check and money order payments within business hours. The full guide to payment options is at the King County Treasury property tax page.
Shoreline Property Tax Relief Programs
Shoreline's city website confirms that low-income seniors over 61 and persons with disabilities may be able to lower their current property tax bills through King County Assessor programs. These are the same programs available across all of King County. Qualifying owners can apply for an exemption or a deferral depending on their situation.
The exemption program requires the owner to be at least 62 years old in the first year of application, or to be disabled, or to be a veteran with a service-connected disability rating of at least 80 percent. Household income must be below $84,000 per year based on 2025 earnings. Ownership and residency requirements also apply: you must own and live in the home for at least nine months per year. The deferral program has a higher income ceiling of $88,998 and requires the owner to be at least 60 years old or retired due to physical disability. Deferrals accrue interest and remain as a lien until repaid. Full details and online applications are available at the King County Assessor exemptions page.
If you believe your Shoreline property's assessed value is incorrect, you can appeal to the King County Board of Equalization. File within the deadline, which the Assessor's annual valuation notice will specify. The appeal process is governed by RCW 84.48. For state-level review, the Washington State Board of Tax Appeals handles cases at bta.wa.gov.
Shoreline Public Records Requests
The City of Shoreline handles public records requests under the Washington State Public Records Act, RCW 42.56. Requests for city-held records, such as building permits, zoning maps, land use decisions, and city ordinances, can be submitted through the Shoreline public records portal at shorelinewa.gov/government/transparency. Many frequently requested records are available directly on the city website without a formal request.
For property-specific recorded documents such as deeds, mortgages, and liens, those records are held by the King County Recorder's Office, not the City of Shoreline. Search recorded documents through the King County online tools or visit the Recorder's Office in Seattle. Deeds and other instruments recorded before 1991 that aren't online can be found at the King County Archives.
