Cowlitz County Assessor and Longview Properties
The Cowlitz County Assessor estimates the value of all taxable property in Cowlitz County, including every parcel in Longview. The office's mission is accuracy, equity, and fairness. That means no property should be over-valued or under-valued relative to others. The Assessor administers exemption and special classification programs and handles all parcel-level value questions.
The Assessor's online parcel search is available through the Cowlitz County property application system. You can look up properties by parcel number or address to get assessed values, ownership details, tax district information, and property characteristics. Search Longview Property Tax Records Online
The primary online tool for searching Longview property records is the Cowlitz County Assessor Parcel Search, hosted at cowlitzinfo.net. You can search by parcel number or street address. Results include property tax information, assessed values, tax district details, property characteristics, and ownership data. The GIS mapping component lets you view parcel boundaries and overlapping tax district information on a map. Longview Property Tax Payments and Due Dates
Property taxes for Longview parcels are collected by the Cowlitz County Treasurer. Taxes are due in two equal installments. The first half is due April 30 and the second half is due October 31. Payments must be postmarked by those dates to be considered timely. If your total tax is $49.99 or less, the full amount must be paid by April 30.
The Treasurer accepts online payments by e-check, credit card, and debit card. You can also mail a check made payable to the Cowlitz County Treasurer. A $25 fee is charged for any check returned for non-sufficient funds. The Treasurer's office is your contact for any questions about your bill, payment methods, or account status.
For taxes that become delinquent, interest accrues on the unpaid amount. After January 1, 2023, residential real property with four or fewer units accrues interest at 0.75% per month. All other property types accrue at 1% per month. No penalty is assessed on qualifying residential property under the 2023 rule. Other property types receive a 3% penalty on June 1 and an additional 8% penalty on December 1 if taxes remain unpaid. Under the older rules for taxes delinquent before December 31, 2022, interest accrues at 1% per month on the full balance.
Property owners can also sign up to receive electronic tax bills through the Cowlitz County Treasurer's electronic billing enrollment page. This replaces the paper statement that is otherwise mailed each year.

Local Improvement Districts and Longview Properties
The City of Longview Finance Department administers Local Improvement Districts (LIDs). LIDs are used to fund public improvements such as streets, sidewalks, sewers, water systems, parks, and parking facilities. Property owners in a LID benefit from the improvements and pay their share over time through annual assessments.
After the final assessment roll is adopted, property owners in the LID have a 30-day prepay window to pay their full share without interest. After that, the assessment is billed in annual installments equal to one-tenth of the original amount plus interest. The LID assessment becomes a lien on the property. If two installments are delinquent, the city can begin foreclosure proceedings after giving notice by certified mail.
Longview also offers LID deferrals for senior citizens and disabled persons. To qualify, you must be at least 60 years old or disabled, own the home, and have household income not exceeding $40,000. These deferrals are administered by the Cowlitz County Assessor's Office. Contact the Assessor to learn how to apply. The Finance Department phone is 360-442-5099, available Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Accounts Payable is at 360-442-5044 and LID services at 360-442-5036.
Note: The LID assessment and the regular property tax bill are two separate charges. Both become liens on the property if not paid.
